People, Events & a Geet

Vince Alexander is one of the most successful college basketball coaches anywhere with a 33-4 record this season and a trip to the Final Four. We are very proud of him. Vince is a Mountie at heart. He rebuilt MU’s basketball team in the late 90′s through 2005 and he has always been a man whose focus is community outreach and mentoring the young around him.

Three members of the MU School Library and Information Technoligies Program are honored by various state and national organizations. Kudos to Deb Kachel, Sara Johns and Cynthia Keller.

The latest “Conversations” is a discussion between MU’s Dennis Miller and Chris Johannessen. Chris nearly flunked out of Mansfield his first year, but went on to graduate (1990) and became a digital analytics pioneer who consults with international companies and holds two patents.

The next few weeks are exciting around here. The Big Event and Spring Fling are both lined up for this weekend, April 12. New Politics will rock Decker Gym on April 24. Color Me Spring is set for April 26. Aziz Ansari comes to Straughn Hall on April 27. The Multi Cultural Masquerade Ball is May 2. And mark your calenders for Spring Commencement, May 10.

The Social Work students are collecting for the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Elmira until April 25. Collection boxes are in Pinecrest, Manser, Alumni and South Hall.

Check out the Facebook page of a new club on campus. Domination is the first modeling and fashion organization at MU. See the 2014 Domination Fashion Show  on Saturday, April 19 starting at 7pm at Alumni Hall.

Watch this video as one student pulled the ultimate April Fool’s Day prank on her economics professor.

Strange things happen all the time. In Ireland, a goat for into a sheep’s pen. Farmer Patrick Murphy assumed they couldn’t mate. Meet the baby Geep.

It’s a journey to meet and hear from the World’s oldest people. Watch the trailer for “Walter: The Movie”, available digitally right now, and in select theatres soon.
