The 2014 Spring Class & Other Classy Stuff

The big day approaches. The 149th Spring Commencement is Saturday. Don’t forget you can watch it live online.

Earlier this week during the Graduation Celebration Brunch, the 2014 Outstanding Senior Nominees were honored. We’ll find out who recieves the Outstanding Senior Award at Commencement.

And congratulations to the 17 MU faculty and staff members who were recognized as Outstanding Senior Mentors.

Home is where the dog is. Students had a chance to feel that comfort and take a break during finals to chillax with shelter dogs from Animal Care Sanctuary. 158 students and employees came to “Chillin with the Canines.” Donna, Chris, and Frank from Student Life and Community Outreach knew it would be fun for students and the pooches alike. If you missed it, don’t worry because Student Life will sponsor this event 2-3 times a year.

Best of luck to the Mounties Softball Team. The women head out to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region II Tournament this weekend. Catch the pregame show and pitch-by-pitch action with RLM Sports online or on the radio with WELM 1410 AM. We’ll update you, inning-by-inning, on twitter @MUmounties. Listen to the audio broadcast via the internet live.

Who hails from Southern Virginia, has been at MU for 29 years and loves a good treasure hunt? North Hall Librarian Fran Garrison. Learn all about Fran in “Twenty-Nine Years Later,” the latest blog from Public Relations major Meredith Shewell.

He wore a festoon of molecules, a sideways beret, and rapped to his peeps on the last day of class. Chemistry student Thadius Sales caught Dr. D (Professor Scott Davis) on video, word!

Good things come to those who bait. The MU Bass Fishing Team start the season with a huge win, placing 2nd out of 48 teams at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. The team brings home $1,000 for their club.
